    What are Nests of Lockers?

    Nests of Lockers are 2 or more lockers bolted together to save money and space. Nested Lockers are manufactured into one outer steel case, which saves materials and money. Overall, this makes your locker more cost-effective.

    Available options at Direct2U are nests of 2 or 3, with up to 6 compartments in each Locker. They are the ideal storage solution for schools and businesses where space may be compromised.

    A wide range of door colours are also available. This allows you to customise these lockers to your environment's branding. A steel, black or white carcass is an option depending on which you would prefer.

    Why are Nested Lockers popular?

    Nested Lockers are most popular for their space-saving and money-saving properties. With multiple lockers nested into one sheet of metal, material costs are lowered. This does not compromise on their quality construction. Nesting units together also maximises space, perfect for smaller areas.

    We offer them for most businesses and schools that require storage for multiple people at once. With a nest of 3 with 6 compartments, 16 users can utilize this unit. You can then put them next to each other to build up the numbers.

    One-compartment (singe door) lockers offer the most storage. They are fitted with a top shelf and a coat hook. 2 Compartment units are fitted with a coat hook in each compartment, also giving large storage space.

    3 and 4 compartment lockers are ideal for bags, shoes and other daily things people may bring to work. 5 and 6 compartments are ideal for phones, keys, wallets and smaller personal belongings.

    Nested Lockers also create a more seamless appearance, as they are manufactured together. They are more visually attractive than placing standard lockers next to each other. This is because they are flush together in one outer metal case. And they remove the need to bolt the lockers together when positioned in long runs, as this is done for you in the design and manufacturing process. Saving you space, time and money.

    What are the benefits of a Nested Locker?

    Firstly, these lockers come powder coated with Activecoat anti-bacterial technology. This is included in the hard-wearing powder coated finish and importantly lasts the lifetime of the locker. The Activecoat anti-bacterial technology prevents the growth and cross-contamination of potenitally harmful germs and bacteria, which are likely to be present in busy environments. A vital component for busy areas where the units will be in use by many people at once. It sees a 99.9% reduction in E-coli and MRSA and prevents mould, fungi, algae and more.

    Secondly, this range is also fire-tested. This means that the product has undergone various tests to check how it reacts to fire, smoke and flaming droplets. These lockers are certified to the European Standard EN 13501-1: 2007 +A1: 2009. They are safe to be placed in your environment, as they are non-combustible, will not add to a fire and will for sustain any fire in it's proximity.

    Thirdly, all this range conform to the British Standard BS 4680 1996. This means that the unit is confirmed to be reliable, versatile, hard-wearing and secure. This standard gives you confidence when purchasing these lockers that they are made to last and cost-effective. They are manufactured in the UK to the highest quality, to meet all these standards.     What upgrades are available?

    Lock upgrades:

    • Swivel latch lock: Simple keyless lock that just requires the user to bring a padlock to secure their belongings.
    • Combination lock: An effective 4-pin lock with 10,000 different combinations. This makes it perfect for multiple different users as the pin can be changed regularly. A master key is also available to override the pin.
    • Coin return / retain: This lock accepts pound coins and euros. With the option to return the coin to the user or store it within the Locker for the business's profit.
    • Digital Combination Lock: Simple programming with batteries to last up to 50,000 operations. This means they can be used for multiple users as the pin can be changed. An emergency override key is also available.
