    What types of drum handling tools will I need?

    A good quality drum handler and storage system will minimize loss and reduce risks of injury. Initially, you will need either a vertical or horizontal drum lifter, as well as a manual drum trolley or hydraulic drum truck. Some of these work independently, others work with forklift trucks or wooden pallets. Regardless of which you buy, it will in turn help with safe delivery and transportation of steel drums. However, that’s not all. In order to access drum contents, you should also consider tools such as a drum opener, drum tap or drum pump, drum fill gauge and drum funnel.

    What else should I consider?

    Depending on the types of substance you are handling and storing, you should consider the any regulations regarding the quantities of which you can store and how they should be stored. However, regardless of any restrictions on quantity, you should also outline safety procedures involving the substance, its storage and handling in you Health & safety and CoSHH assessments. In some instances, these may conclude that a CoSHH compliant storage unit and spill control procedure is also required.
